Graduation

Honestly, I'm ready to graduate but it's going to be bittersweet. I'm going to miss this school and the people in it. I grew up with most of these kids since I was in first grade. All my memories as a kid were with 90% of Sand Creek students. I'm going to miss some of the teachers and seeing everyone that I know every day. Growing up is nice because you get responsibilities and you learn a sense of independence. Going to college is going to change my life. Getting an education to provide my family food on the table in the future. I plan on going to Jackson Community College for my first two years to get a degree in Criminal Justice. After my two years I will most likely transfer. I wish all the underclassmen good luck with the rest of their high school days and I will miss you all. <3

Cinco de Mayo!

Cinco de Mayo—or the fifth of May—commemorates the Mexican army's 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War (1861-1867). A relatively minor holiday in Mexico, in the United States Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American populations. Cinco de Mayo traditions include parades, mariachi music performances and street festivals in cities and towns across Mexico and the United States. I think the mexican heritage should celebrate considering America had nothing to do with it. It shouldn't become a national holiday because we weren't apart of it.

As far as no homework day goes, I don't know who came up with it, but teachers arent gonna take that as an excuse so you're going to have to end up doing your homework anyway. I didn't celebrate in it because I didn't want to lose points for some stupid made up holiday.

Prom!

To me, prom is the best memories I have. This year was my last year for prom and I went with my boyfriend, David. I had a group of my friends that met at my house around 5. There was my date and me, McKenna and Zac, Shelby Noffsinger and Thomas, Shelby Brinninstool and Nate, and Courtney and Jason. We all me at my house to take pictures at five. Zac was about 45 minutes late, and we ate at the Golden Corral. My boyfriend and me went to my grandmas house for pictures before dinner, and after dinner we went to my aunts house. My little cousins thought I looked like a princess. After pictures at my Aunts, we left for the prom. We got there at 9 even though it started at 8. We danced to almost every song and it was SO hot. After prom, we went to Tim Horton's for coffee so I could stay up until 5. We went back to my house to change for after prom and met back at the school by 1. I rode the mechanical bull, took pictures with my friends in the photo booth, and crawled through the big blow up obstacle coarse. At 4 we started prizes and my name never even got called. I ended up with 25 free golf balls. We left the school around 5 and made it back to Davids around 5:45 and I fell asleep as soon as I got home.

Earth Day!

Celebrating Earth Day is important to the environment. Planting trees is important and to me, it means giving us as humans cleaner air to breathe. I planted trees a few years ago for Earth Day. Something I didn't know about Earth Day was that it started in 1970. Another fact is that Sen. Gaylord Nelson, a democrat from Wisconsin, came up with the idea for Earth Day in 1969. By 1990, Earth Day was celebrated across the glob by 10 times as many people - 200 million. We should recycle as much as possible on that day and plant baby trees. One per person.

Violence on TV

Vioelence on TV can affect a child. If a young kid is watching a violent show, that may cause them to think that it's ok for them to go and have an act of vioelence against a kid at school, or their siblings. I think that if they're going to have violent shows on TV, broadcasting them a certain time of day isn't going to affect weather or not a kid will watch it. There's DVR now where it can be recorded and a kid can go into the recordings and watch it then. The only way you can really prevent a kid from seeing a restricted show is by putting a password lock on the channel and recordings. I think TV shows have violence in them to attract the viewers. The walking dead is vioelent and young kids shouldn't watch it. I think 16 year olds and older should watch this show. Even I get grossed out at some points of the show.

Cheaters Never Win

If I saw a friend cheating, I would just let them get in trouble by themselves. I feel that karma is stronger than you telling on them. If someone wants to cheat, they'll get in trouble some time. Telling on them wouldn't do anything except start drama and get you in the middle of drama with that person. I wouldn't even confront them about it because it's their lives. Not mine. If they want to cheat that's their problem.
